City of Mount Holly Bee Expansion Project, completed February 2025
City of Mount Holly Bee Expansion Project, Spring 2025
I will be painting these three sidewalk murals for the City of Mount Holly, NC in the spring of 2025. These are the designs approved by the public art committee, the painted look will vary slightly due to the texture of the sidewalk.. The goal of this project is to give pedestrians visual enjoyment while on sidewalks while emphasizing the importance of bees to our environment.
Holden Beach West
Working on this mural was one of my most enjoyable mural experiences. The client aimed for a tropical vibe without being overly themed. We began with Bird of Paradise flowers and incorporated other tropical plants inspired by my visit to the San Antonio Botanical Garden.
Public Art
SouthPark Holiday Hop
I was chosen as one of 16 artists to design a holiday window for small businesses in the SouthPark area during their inaugural Holiday Hop event. Collaborating with Bedside Manner, I created a minimal winter design featuring pine sprigs and ornaments. I enjoyed the project even more than I expected and was delighted with the final result. Even better, the client was thrilled with the design and installation!
Shout CLT 2023
What a project! I was selected as one of 10 artists to design an icon for Shout CLT, a 10-day art festival in Uptown Charlotte. I stepped away from painting to try something completely new. When I say new, I mean I had never cut mirror, used a grinder, or adhered mirror to a hard foam surface before taking on this icon. I used recycled mirror to create the design, which features a crown, the state of North Carolina, a football, and our area code, 704. My inspiration came from the Firebird sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle, also known as the Disco Chicken, which is located outside the Bechtler Museum.
Public Art
Town of Mooresville Public Library West Branch
Working with library staff I created this artwork that reflects the natural lakeside environment featuring, birds, frogs and a turtle. This is a vinyl mural that was attached to a 16’ x 13’ wall. At the base of the wall there will be interactive elements for children to play with.
Andrews’ House
This is the first mural completed for 2024. Located a few minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway at a short term rental property this mural was a joy to design and paint. Working with the client to find the right design and colors was an easy process because I took the time to listen to their needs. Overcoming the weather this mural was completed quickly and in perfect time for Spring rentals.
